A weekend of finding balance
Nature, connections and awe
What an amazing weekend.
As I sit here at my laptop on Monday morning, I still have a smile on my face and a heart full of peace and joy from this past weekend. No, I didn’t travel to an exotic location or perform fantastic feats. No, if I would have to sum it up, I was present.
Saturday, I spent time on projects around the house, primarily decluttering the space and making room for new dreams and goals. Then, late afternoon, I drove to Reiman Gardens in Ames to participate in a Forest Bathing walk. It was perfect weather for it, a little chilly but not freezing. No wind or snow. There was a calm, quiet breeze on our faces as Brandy of Intertwined Iowa led us through the gardens, pausing to invite us to explore the space with our senses and then share what we experienced with the group. The event ended with a beautiful tea ceremony.

Sunday started with another walk through nature, although this one was much colder, with a strong wind encouraging us to keep moving. But Jenn of Wander Women Midwest led us over the river (creek) and through the woods to a finish of soup and conversation. I enjoyed not only the time in nature at Jester Park but the conversation with fellow attendees. And we made quite a colorful group!

Then, I was able to end the weekend with my sister as we attended a unique Full Moon Yoga Flow led by Olive of AllLoveMovement. The time spent chatting with my sister as we traveled to Wilson’s Orchard, the grounded yoga flow, the peaceful candles, and the soothing tones of the sound bath made for an amazing atmosphere. And we were treated to a beverage and gourmet pizza as well!

Yes, it was indeed an amazing weekend. The time spent slowing down, appreciating nature, and connecting with fellow humans made being present in the moment easy and very rewarding.
